“My cooperative, my future.” Wabash Valley FS Service Company provides opportunities every year to students exploring a career within agriculture. They continuously work with students around the surrounding counties with an interest in the company and a strong work ethic. Wabash Valley FS takes part in conjunction with Growmark to provide students with the opportunity of two different internship programs as well. These programs include “Exploring Agriculture” and “Growmark”. This year Wabash Valley FS has nine interns located at six different facilities. Of the nine, two of the interns have chosen to engage as a program intern. This gives the students an opportunity to listen in on live webinars, have access to specialized classes, work with a mentor, manage a project, and present their internship experience to the Bloomington home office.

Students who choose to engage in an internship often have an advantage over those without internship experience. During practicum, the students not only receive the opportunity to explore future career paths and gain experience, but they are also able to build a stronger network within the agriculture industry and have a better insight on whether or not they are in the correct career path. Wabash Valley FS offers a variety of internships including agronomy, business, production, and marketing and communications.

Here’s what our program intern’s have to say:

“I feel I have developed better communication skills during my time here with Wabash Valley FS and have got a better understanding of what I want to do after school. I definitely believe you get as much out of the internship as the time and dedication you put into it!” - Addie Hemrich, Intern in Cisne

“Wabash Valley FS has given me the opportunity to explore my marketing minor, which I will forever be grateful for. I wasn’t exactly sure if marketing was my thing before starting my internship, but I have grown to love it this summer. I am so lucky to have grown close and created new relationships with my coworkers that I will forever cherish. I was nervous starting this internship, but have felt completely welcome and at home since day one!” - Kenna Steber, Intern in Grayville
